10 Exact Moments That Turned WWE Wrestlers Into Superstars
3. Mick Foley - King Of The Ring 1998
Mick Foley is one of the most legendary wrestlers of all time. He was one of the biggest stars of The Attitude Era and is still seen on WWE TV to this day as the Raw GM. But how much of that would still be the case without King of the Ring 1998?
The third ever Hell in a Cell match would seem to be an impossible feat to match up to the first one. Shawn Michaels and The Undertaker had a perfect match. Everything about that match was perfect. So what could Mankind and The Undertaker do to top it? Well nearly kill Foley seemed like the logical answer.
You see it all the time on WWE TV. Mankind getting thrown off the Cell. It will forever be one of the most iconic moments in wrestling history. Then Foley went through the cell, had one of his teeth lodged through his nose and kept going with the match. He went through thumbtacks in this match as well. This is an extremely violent match. And it proved that Mick Foley was a legit badass. This was a man who would do anything for his art and ever since this match, Mick Foley was a Superstar.
Mick has gone on to be a 3 time WWE Champion, a New York Times best seller and the first ever Hardcore Champion.
