6. Legend Killer?

The challenger's affinity with legendary St Louis figures had been laboured on in the build-up to Randy Orton's rematch with Jinder Mahal after the announcement that it would take place in 'The Viper's hometown, but the company troweled it on thick when it actually came to presenting the WWE Title match itself.

In defence of the booking, Orton was an over babyface in his hometown, which hasn't been something particularly associated with the 'Apex Predator' in all his years as both a hero and a villain. He had the crowd making all the right noises throughout his laboured 20+ minute challenge for Mahal's title, but it was bizarre to see a former 'Legend Killer' now apparently a bastion of good against Jinder's latest learned evil.

No longer satisfied with crushing America or whatever empty rhetoric he spewed last, the 'Maharaja' was also narked with old-timers in a desperate attempt to re-fuel a fire with the challenger that long went out.

Problematic again was the painfully dull match, which again couldn't remotely supply the discerning 2017 audience with a contest matching their slightly increased expectations. This will become a recurring problem with Jinder Mahal title defence, especially if the company are not creative enough to think of new ways to structure the matches.
