In a recent podcast, former WWE booker Jim Cornette pointed out that the WWE Universe has been conditioned to dislike what they are given. In the storyline, the characters running the company are portrayed as a bunch of ruthless, selfish nepotists, who push their own agenda and handpicked champions. So, when the actual company pushes their chosen guy, theyre blurring that fine line between fantasy and reality. Perhaps the solution is to disband The Authority. At least get them off television for awhile, and stop associating the actual company with corruption and deceit. The WWE would benefit from a face as the storyline president (like Gorilla Monsoon was in the mid-90s) or an impartial character as the storyline president (like Jack Tunney was before Monsoon).
