10 Issues WWE Needs To Address In 2022
10. The Tag Division
It’s no secret that Vince McMahon doesn’t care much for tag team wrestling, and indeed it’s been a long old while since the division had any kind of strength in depth. Things have sunk to such a depth of late, though, that we’re at a breaking point.
WWE isn’t overflowing with talented teams, but at the moment, unless you’re an Uso, a New Day member, or RK-Bro, you’re not getting so much as a sniff. These three teams are great, but the division could be so much more: Alpha Academy, The Dirty Dawgs, the Mysterios, the Street Profits - none of these teams are getting regular shine.
There’s also WWE’s penchant for splitting up tag teams. Indeed one of the above - RK-Bro - are presumably built to combust sooner or later. And things are worse still for the women, where the belts can disappear off TV for weeks at a time and ad hoc teams are created and dropped from minute to minute.
If Vince doesn’t want to get involved with the tag division, could he not hand it over to someone else? We’re not expecting the heyday of the early ‘00s to return, but we can’t keep watching RK-Bro versus Styles and Omos for much longer.
