10 Last-Minute WWE Great Balls Of Fire Rumours You Need To Know

Joe vs. Brock! Reigns vs. Strowman!

By Scott Fried /

This Sunday, WWE presents Great Balls of Fire, the first Pay-Per-View event to be run under that name. While it's true that the unorthodox title received the lion's share of the show's attention in early promotion, the card has come together in such a way that even referencing a 60-year-old song isn't the big news here.

In the main event, WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar - who won the title at WrestleMania - will be making his first championship defense when he puts the belt on the line against Samoa Joe, who won a five-way match at Extreme Rules. That well-promoted bout is something of a dream match for fans who have long waited to see the two baddest bad-asses in the company lock horns.

Elsewhere on the show, the Roman Reigns versus Braun Strowman program - which was delayed due to an elbow injury to Strowman - will likely end when the two men battle in an ambulance match. As Reigns has already stated that he wants to challenge for the Universal Title at SummerSlam, this bout will undoubtedly have major implications for the August PPV.

With six more matches and infinite possibilities, what can fans expect from the show? Here are 10 rumors you need to know for Great Balls of Fire, ranked from least to most plausible.

10. Paul Heyman Turns On Brock Lesnar

Paul Heyman has been a constant presence at Brock Lesnar's side for five years, but that still doesn't mean that "The Beast" should trust him. Heyman has a habit of turning on his clients, and while Brock is far and away his top meal ticket, it doesn't mean that the former owner of ECW wouldn't sell him out for a better opportunity. With that in mind, could Heyman turn on Lesnar and help Samoa Joe win the Universal Title, ushering in a new era (and crowning a champion who'll be on Raw every week)?

If that scenario sounds familiar, it's because the same thing happened at the 2002 Survivor Series - Heyman double-crossed Lesnar, helping end his first WWE Title reign at the hands of The Big Show. Still, Lesnar and Heyman eventually reconciled, and 15 years is more than enough time elapsed to repeat an angle.

Nevertheless, it's extremely unlikely Brock will lose the title to Joe - even if the company wants a more visible champ, they'll get another chance for it next month (more on that later). There's no need for a Heyman turn, and everyone's favorite manager-client pairing can continue without incident.
