The Nexus invasion angle in the summer of 2010 was a genius move by WWE. They had eight guys destroy everything and everybody around the ringside area to end Raw. That included John Cena, who they dismantled in the ring. That was also when Daniel Bryan choked Justin Roberts with a tie and got fired for a few months. That angle ended up as a failure in part because the talent in the group wasn't that great. Wade Barrett was pretty good, Daniel Bryan was fired, Justin Gabriel was solid, Heath Slater is okay, Ryback didn't discover his true gimmick and the rest of them are just average. They just didn't have enough in-ring skill to be believable. Look at the NXT talent now. It's much better than the 2010 group. Guys like Sami Zayn, Adrian Neville, Kevin Owens, Finn Balor, Hideo Itami and others are among the best wrestlers in the world. How about a NXT like invasion? John Cena did a promo on Raw talking about how Triple H has a bunch of guys in NXT ready to take his spot. There's the storyline right there with the NXT guys as heels. WWE would have to be careful about picking the right guys because a guy like Zayn is better as a face than a heel, but they can certainly find 4 or 5 guys to bring up with Owens as the leader due to his ability to talk. They could even have this group associate with Seth Rollins since he was the first NXT Champion and is considered the future of the company. It makes a lot of sense.
