10 Lessons WWE Raw Needs To Learn From SmackDown Right Now
5. Get The Comedy Right
Was R-Truth ever funny or did we just imagine it?
Seriously though the 24/7 division is done. It is becoming horrendously repetitive and is resulting in lacklustre comedy skit after lacklustre comedy skit. The belt was something else that was created to draw ratings and it has never done that job. Every other attempt at comedy has failed. The Miz and John Morrison are unbearable and the stoner schtick is really wearing thin on Matt Riddle.
Over on Friday Nights, however, SmackDown has actually had some pretty entertaining comedy skits. Bayley's interactions with Bianca Belair have been inspired. Both characters seem to riff well off each other and can often seem improvised. This can also extend to other characters on the show. Daniel Bryan, Chad Gable and Otis make for a very endearing team. Whilst the humour is corny, it is also likeable.
That is the issue with the comedy on RAW. It is unlikeable. It is often incredibly outdated and can sometimes border on offensive. RAW needs to rethink its attitude when it comes to laughter or just eliminate scripted comedy entirely in favour of the more organic SmackDown approach.
