As the winter of 2006 raged on, Bobby Lashley was a superstar that WWE obviously had incredibly high hopes for. He had made his debut on WWE TV the previous year, looking strong (in the Roman Reigns sense as well as power) and picking up a United States Championship run along the way. November 2006 saw him move over to ECW as a participant in the Elimination Chamber match for the ECW title. That match took place at December to Dismember, a PPV more aptly known as December to Desperately Try Not To Remember these days (although only by me). CM Punk, Big Show, Test, Rob Van Dam and Hardcore Holly were also in the match, and it was clear fro the outset that Punk was the popular choice to win. Lashley prevailed however, becoming the first African-American ECW Champion in the process. He continued to get the strong treatment as champion, defeating all and sundry and also becoming the first man to break the Masterlock Challenge in the process. His title reign was ended by Vince McMahon of all people, who pinned Lashley in a 3-on-1 handicap match for the title at Backlash in 2007.
