Talking about Hulk Hogan and politics in order to stay champion is a bit old hat these days, but when you look at his championship history it really is impossible to avoid. Hogan won the WCW World Championship on six occasions, and his combined number of days as champion (1,177) is more than double that of the next longest (Ric Flair's 501 days). Once again it was his first run that would be the longest, at a rather astounding 469 days. He defeated Randy Savage for the title, and would hold it for 15 months before losing to The Giant. He didn't even get pinned or submit to lose the title, losing it via disqualification after Jimmy Hart got involved. Nine months later, Hogan would get the belt again, holding it this time for a 'mere' 359 days. To put these numbers into context, only two men (Flair and Vader) held the title longer than that in terms of combined reigns. Yes, Hogan was the master politician we all think he was. How else do you explain the ridiculous length of his title reigns?
