10 Most Ambitious WWE Shows Ever

6. WrestleMania II

Vince McMahon pulled off a huge gable with the first WrestleMania (we'll get to that one), and now for the second installment of his annual supercard, he needed to up the ante and experiment. Like Metal Gear Solid 2's shock introduction of a new protagonist, or Spy Kids 3's utilization of 3D glasses, the gimmick for WrestleMania's sequel was...not well received, to say the least.

In theory, it was a novel idea to promote WrestleMania II in three venues in huge markets (New York, Chicago, Los Angeles), especially when each venue had a major main event (be it Roddy Piper vs. Mr. T, an NFL battle royal, or Hulk Hogan vs. King Kong Bundy).

However, not only was the entire card lousy (as was expected for '80s WWF), but the fact that it was split into three meant that each venue "boasted" something lousy and incomplete. Needless to say, there's a reason WWE haven't tried something like this with their PPVs again (although, the less said about the RAW 25 fiasco, the better).

Still, you need to let yourself fail in order to learn, and the fact that WWE were willing to do this so early into WrestleMania's run shows their lack of fear.
