Sure, Michael Cole had been playing the role of a detestable heel commentator for a while when John Cena subjected him to a ritual humiliation in the main event of a 2012 Raw - but the depths the "match" plumbed left everybody feeling uncomfortable.
It was incredibly jarring to see ultimate babyface Cena drag Cole into the ring, strip him to his underwear, douse him in BBQ sauce, and force him to apologise for his various wrongdoings.
Had this been a heel wrestler, it might have made sense, but Cena is recognised as one of the strongest competitors in WWE history, and Cole is very clearly a non-worker.
