How many cruiserweights did you see with long hair, and a look more in tune with indie rock than rock and roll (aside from The Hardy Boyz) when Billy Kidman started his WCW career in 1996? An important key in the lineage of light heavyweight wrestling's on-camera presentation, Kidman's ability to execute his shooting star press finisher (and also his ability to not be powerbombed, well ever!) was important because it showcased that cruiserweight wrestling was not something just able to be done by luchadors, Asian wrestlers and wrestlers who had wrestled in Japan and Mexico. Rather cruiserweight-style wrestling was something that could be done by "regular" appearing white American guys who were trained in America, too. In expanding the expectations of light-heavyweight wrestlers, the three-time World CHampionship Wrestling Cruiserweight Champion was important.
