Although he was decked out in polka dots and never really draped himself in the flag during his WWF run, Dusty Rhodes was known as the American Dream because he embodied the spirit of the common American. And because of that, its fair to say that he was a patriot.

Rhodes famously is known as the son of a plumber, and so he naturally feuded with people like Macho King Randy Savage and the Million Dollar Man Ted DiBiase during his two-year run with the company.

Rhodes didnt capture any titles during his time in WWF, and he didnt specifically defend Americas honor, but fighting against a king and a ridiculously wealthy character is something that is rooted in the common man in America.
