4. Kurt Angle

Even though the bulk of his WWE career was spent as a heel, Kurt Angle was a guy who wrestled in red, white and blue tights and came out to patriotic fanfare music. Oh, and he won a gold medal in wrestling at the 1996 Olympics with a broken freakin€™ neck!

Angle€™s mere standing as the first Olympic gold medalist in WWF/E history warrants high placement on this list, regardless of the fact that he was a bad guy most of the time. He did spend some time as a good guy, which certainly helped his standing.

Perhaps the biggest patriotic moment in Angle€™s WWF career came in late 2001, when he won the WWF Championship less than two weeks after the 9/11 terrorist attacks in his hometown of Pittsburgh, Pa.

Even if he never makes another appearance in WWE, Angle should be remembered fondly by fans who appreciated his in-ring performances, and the memorable promos from the Olympic hero.
