10 Most Shocking WWE Roster Cuts EVER

6. Jack Swagger

When the 6'7" collegiate superstar Jake Hager walked into WWE, Vince McMahon must have suffered a minor heart attack.

The man who would become Jack Swagger had the rocket strapped to his back from day one. After just a few months, he was pushed to the top of the ECW brand and, within less than two years, he was crowned World Heavyweight Champion after winning Money in the Bank.

Things soon ground to a halt when people realised that Swagger was absolutely awful. Though he was never trusted to head up a brand again, the All-American American was given plenty to do over the next seven years. When his controversial 'We the People' gimmick caught mainstream attention, he was pushed back into the main event where, predictably, he had an awful WrestleMania match with Alberto Del Rio.

Nobody was that upset when Swagger requested his release from the company in 2017, but a few eyebrows were raised.

He could have easily stuck around in WWE for the rest of his days, as he fit their mould so well.  Ultimately, following an AEW run that gave him way more time and exposure than anybody could have forecasted, he decided to move on from wrestling to Power Slap.
