10 Most Surreal WWE Matches Ever

4. The Undertaker Vs. The Dudley Boyz - The Great American Bash 2004

Vince McMahon must have been desperate - the man is famously adverse to treating tag team wrestling seriously - to green light a handicap doubles bout as the main event of a pay-per-view. Knowing that a further stipulation was required, somebody, somewhere devised the 'Concrete Crypt'.

The storyline was nonsense; essentially, if Undertaker didn't do "the right thing," and accept Paul Heyman's advocacy by laying down for the Dudleyz, Paul Bearer would be entombed in cement. "The right thing" was somehow teased as a mystery in the weeks leading up the Bash, which, Christ. 2004 was significantly worse than 1995. Bearer's stuff was clearly pre-filmed, rendering the already ridiculous absolutely preposterous. This match was also rubbish - so you'd think the cuts to Heyman, with his hand on the lever of the cement mixer, would represent a welcome diversion. They didn't, for this was the worst promo work of Heyman's career.

"You're a good dog. And I'm a nice master. So don't you test me again!"

After easily dispatching of the Dudleyz, 'Taker decided to up and murder Bearer anyway - after scaring Heyman off with a lightning bolt. Was this a WWE main event? Did WWE just simulate murder?

How was this not a heel turn?
