10 Most Surreal WWE Matches Ever
3. Kurt Angle, Dean Ambrose & Seth Rollins Vs. The Miz, The Bar, Kane And Braun Strowman - TLC 2017
The hysterical Roman Reigns detractors were sort of proved right in the end: the very second he left for a short, enforced spell, WWE turned into this Bizarro Land of Match Of The Year contenders and impossible comebacks that were as sudden as they were glorious.
The sight of Kurt Angle in full Shield regalia, completing the Reigns cosplay act by mimicking his pre-Triple Powerbomb roar, remains beautifully absurd.
Angle wasn't meant to make it back to WWE; the more ghoulish publications out there probably still have an obituary tucked in a shared folder, such was the grim inevitability of his drastic painkiller dependency. But come back he did, having conquered addiction like he'd conquered so much else. He also wasn't meant to wrestle - optimistic whispers were reduced to silence when it became apparent that Angle hadn't yet undergone medical testing.
But wrestle he did, in a match that went full surreal; Angle, beaming stepdad, was power-slammed through a table by Braun Strowman, who was ostensibly killed off in a trash compactor by a demonic mayoral candidate, allowing a reconciled Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose a faint chance of defeating Sheamus, Miz and Cesaro, the latter of whom finally taking his rightful place in a WWE main event.
Angle's triumphant return to the fray was a brilliant wrinkle to what was, literally, a stupidly good match.
