That same year, someone f*cked with Steve Austin's attempts to run the WWF.

At King Of The Ring 1999, Austin was on course to beat both Vince and Shane McMahon in a ladder-based bout to seize control when the briefcase he was grabbing mysteriously started moving out of reach. Some snake was deliberately mucking up Austin's plans, and they'd surely pay afterwards.

Obviously, given the fact this angle is here, they didn't. After halfheartedly hinting that McMahon crony Big Boss Man was behind the briefcase raise, the WWF moved swiftly on to a 'First Blood' match between Austin and The Undertaker at Fully Loaded. The small matter of who helped Vince and Shane win the prior month was deemed unimportant.

Boss Man was a bogus explanation, and it was never definitively stated he did the dirty work. So, again, fans were left with more questions than answers. Maybe it was the same person responsible for GTV's spy cams in the loos and locker rooms nationwide.
