10 New Directions For WWE After Elimination Chamber 2024
WrestleMania 40 awaits, but WWE just set up 2024's most unlikely one-on-one.
The hits keep on coming for WWE's stadium shows in 2024.
Elimination Chamber wasn't quite on par with Royal Rumble in terms of mystery going in, but Triple H will be chuffed with how things panned out. Australia was ready for a major league PLE, and the venue looked resplendent once the sun dimmed and the pyro started booming into the Perth night air.
There's no point in asking a question like: 'So, where do WWE go next?'. Speaking broadly, the answer is easy. WrestleMania 40 is right around the corner. It's the next big event on the calendar, and full attention will now turn towards making back to back nights in Philly as special as possible.
Chamber confirmed no less than two big title matches for 'Mania, but that's not all. Cody Rhodes fired out a challenge that'll gain traction once he topples Roman Reigns for the Undisputed Title in April. This is defo one bout you never thought you'd see, but it's a more realistic proposition than ever before.
WWE lined up a few other tasty encounters in Perth too. Here's what's winging your way soon!
10. Becky Lynch Challenging Rhea Ripley
It was one of wrestling's worst kept secrets, but Becky Lynch has finally been confirmed as Rhea Ripley's challenger for 'Mania. She won the opening Chamber match on Saturday, and then shook the cage chains like some sort of female, red-headed Ultimate Warrior. Now, Becks will go after 'Mami'.
Their showdown doesn't carry a rich enough story to headline either night ahead of other attractions involving Cody Rhodes, Seth Rollins, Drew McIntyre, The Rock, Roman Reigns etc, but Lynch vs. Ripley will be a fine addition to either midcard across WrestleMania weekend. They'll guarantee a fun trip, if nothing else.
It'd be a shocker if Becky won, because Rhea is the future.
That's an important point, actually; WWE must realise that they don't have to switch every major championship in sight come 'Mania. Sometimes, it's OK for champs to retain. Ripley qualifies as someone who still has more to give as Women's World Champion.
