10 WWE Stars Who BADLY Need New Gimmicks After WrestleMania 40

Even some of WWE's biggest names need a bit of spring cleaning post-WrestleMania!

Change is inevitable in pro wrestling.

If WrestleMania is to be viewed as WWE's "season finale" each year, then the period immediately following it is the ideal time to dust off ye olde sketchbooks and start drawing up something fresh for many on the roster. They need it. Admittedly, some in the locker room need it more than others, but Triple H doesn't have to be picky here.

Also, something should be clarified. Saying a wrestler needs a new gimmick doesn't necessarily mean they need to become a walking cartoon like many from the mid-1990s. Nobody's suggesting Bianca Belair (who is on this list) should turn into the second coming of Repo Man or anything of the sort.

Iconic announcer Jim Ross would describe this as "going away to learn a new hold". Fresh wrinkles and character reinvention are important in WWE, especially when the company fires so much content out at fans. It's crucial even some of the roster's biggest names don't get stale.

Sadly, a few are already flirting with the danger zone. A rethink is needed then. Here's who badly needs one!

10. Gable Steveson

Two things here.

One, Gable Steveson definitely deserves time to establish himself in pro wrestling. Two, it's time to stop pretending that he's the second coming of Kurt Angle to WWE. That's ridiculous, and it heaped so much unnecessary pressure on the Olympian's shoulders before he'd even worked a match.

Steveson was probably never going to live up to the hype. Giving him a personality far-removed from 'he's Kurt 2.0' would be for the best. Otherwise, Gable will continue floundering and be on the receiving end of some brutal online burials from fans via social media. The knives were out before he'd even wrestled, for crying out loud.

WWE should start brainstorming something that isn't tied to amateur wrestling for Steveson. His real sports credentials will always be there, but he hasn't clicked as an Angle successor. Let's be honest here: Chad Gable does that way better on the main roster in 2024 anyway.

Steveson needs change or he's cooked.
