10 New Directions For WWE After WrestleMania 39 (Night 1)

WWE might have a few shocks waiting for you after WrestleMania 39's opening night.

WrestleMania 39's opening night was a pulsating mix of sports entertainment splendour, celebrity culture and some of the best pro wrestling storytelling money can buy. When WWE gets it right, it gets it f*cking right, and the entire crew worked hard to make this a gratifying evening for company favourites past, present and future.

It was bags of fun, and was likely to tickle fan senses more than that moustache tickles Vinnie Mac's upper lip these days. A huge question hits hard coming out of the first barrage of matches though: Where is WWE going in the immediate aftermath?

The smart-arsed answer is "WrestleMania 39 Night 2", but beyond that looks tasty. Everyone from John Cena, Austin Theory and Rhea Ripley, to Charlotte Flair, Dominik Mysterio and brand new tag champs Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn could be set for some ride heading through the rest of 2023.

Backlash is 'Mania's follow up PLE in Puerto Rico, so that should give fans some clues about what WWE creative has in mind. Think of this as very-much a part one before 'Mania 39 rocks SoFi Stadium all over again in less than 24 hours.

New directions? WWE has them in abundance.

10. Logan Paul Inking A New Contract

First things first - tying a natural down.

This has to happen. Yes, celeb YouTuber-turned-wrestler Logan Paul receives a lot of hate from some corners of the fanbase, but he's taken to this wrasslin' thing like a duck to water. A duck that ziplines into WrestleMania on his birthday like some energy-drink-touting version of HBK.

Seriously though, WWE should bend over backwards to keep him around, at least for another year. Paul himself has intimated that he wouldn't be game for anything longer than that, because he's keeping his options open career-wise. That's fine, because squeezing another volley of supershow matches is more than enough.

Simply put, Logan hasn't let the promotion down yet. He's sparkled in all of his major matches to date, and entered another strong showing vs. Seth Rollins in Hollywood on Saturday night. Tying him down on another deal would be incredibly smart business given his rookie sensation vibes and importance when it comes to producing content that goes viral online.
