5. Andy Kaufman

The "Celebrity" wing of the WWE Hall of Fame is an absolute joke.

Snoop Dogg, Kid Rock, Donald Trump. These are the names that WWE deem worthy enough to sit in the same Hall of Fame as Shawn Michaels, Stone Cold, Trish Stratus and countless other legends. This is appalling.

What's worse is that WWE don't even acknowledge the celebrities who genuinely did play a big part in wrestling history, such as the late great showman, Andy Kaufman.

Kaufman was a comedian (although he'd never call himself that) who used a heel pro wrestling gimmick as part of his act in the early 1980s.

The high point of Kaufman's wrestling routine came in 1982, when he appeared on The David Letterman Show alongside then-wrestler and future-puppy enthusiast, Jerry 'The King' Lawler.

Kaufman and Lawler had been involved in a kayfabe feud in Lawler's native Memphis, but their rivalry exploded onto national television when the two had a "fight" on the show, during which Kaufman threw coffee over The King.

Of course, this was a work, but people at the time had no idea and genuinely believed that the two had come to blows. It raised Lawler's profile massively, as well as the profile of wrestling in general.
