The inescapable reality of todays pro wrestling landscape is that the WWE has no legitimate competitor. No one comes close to delivering what the WWE can in terms of its talent roster and production quality. Try as TNA has over the years, even the most casual observer will be able to tell that the promotion is, overall, vastly inferior. For wrestling fans, then, there simply is no real alternative to WWE when it comes to slick, highly produced in-ring product. The Monday Night Wars between WWE and WCW were very much the glory days for fans as they could literally switch back and forth between two huge wrestling promotions at the top of their game. With the war now long over, however, there is only WWE. Although ECW may not have been in the same league as WWE or WCW, it offered such a distinctive product that it was, in fact, a third viable option for fans back in the day. Sure, current independent promotion Ring of Honor has a very loyal fan base, a solid roster and TV distribution, thanks to its parent company, the Sinclair Broadcast Group. But where ROH excels in its highlighting of great technical wrestling, it lags far behind in basic production values and ring psychology amongst its young performers.Other indie and foreign feds may all have something different going for them, but if youre looking for a show like Monday Night RAW, WWE is the only game in town.
