Money In The Bank 2021 was a follow-up reminder of everything right with Roman’s character. There, in front of another passionate crowd in Texas, Reigns entered a quite majestic heel display against Edge. Again, he managed to get through brief moments of adulation without folding and encouraging it.

That isn't always easy. One need only trawl through the WWE archives, boot up Survivor Series 1996 and watch Sycho Sid struggle to downplay vociferous fan support despite going up against designated babyface champ Shawn Michaels; Sid couldn't resist pandering on that night, but Reigns resisted in 2021.

His work furthered Edge's genuinely likeable and sympathetic babyface story, which is an amazing compliment to Roman's skillset. The Universal Champ's heat sections had folks losing their minds at the thought of an Edge comeback and unlikely title win, and that speaks to Reigns' ability to overpower an audience who actually kinda like him.
