It's hard to know what WWE creative was thinking when Batista was brought back as a babyface. Perhaps their thought was that since he was former WWE/World Champion many times that he would be cheered by the fans simply because they remember him when he was a top guy. They were very wrong about that.

Part of the reason why Batista was over as a babyface in 2005, for example, was because of the great booking. He was in the shadow of Triple H, then he realized he could do it on his own so when he won the Royal Rumble and then gave the "thumbs down" to Triple H that's when the fans rallied behind him. It lasted for a few years, but it's not like there was much to the character other than being the intense guy that beat up the bad guys.

When he turned heel in his original run he was a much better performer that way. It's clearly the more natural role for him. Now that he's back in the heel role, it once again feels like the right version of Batista. Don't mess it up, WWE. Keep him as a heel.

You can't make us cheer who you want, so if he's going to be around then keep him only as a heel unless there's a story in place to do something else. Chances are there won't be.
