The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation, or GLAAD as it's more commonly known, is today a sponsorship partner of WWE. Seeking to break down barriers and "advance equality", the group has not always seen eye-to-eye with the world of wrestling, actually calling out WWE for some incidents over the past 5 years. One of the first times many fans had even heard of the organisation is when they complained to WWE about words John Cena used to describe The Miz and then-lackey Alex Riley. Looking for cheap laughs, Cena poked fun at the fact Miz and Riley were always with one another, insinuating that they were gay lovers. That didn't sit well with GLAAD, who were less than happy with the remarks. Similarly, Cena was in the thick of it again during his rivalry with The Rock. Using homophobic phrases to insult his opponent during a rap, Cena infuriated GLAAD, who demanded an apology. Wrestling is all about provoking emotion, but it seems GLAAD are keen wrestling fans, and keep an eye on the product!
