10 Things Lapsed Fans Think During WrestleMania Season

8. Overall WWE Atmosphere Feels Too 'Safe'

Along the same lines as the previous point raised, there's a truly saccharine gloss to WWE programming these days that must strike older viewers. There will be those tuning in again who won't have expected things to change. Sure, they'll expect new faces, but they would also predict that the product would be generally the same as years gone by. Those brought up with the phrase, 'anything can happen in the World Wrestling Federation' must be taken aback by the relatively formulaic programming and predictable patterns on display. Again, there's only so much WWE can do to mix up the formula of shows, but the family-friendly sheen does wear thin when it's presented too much. This was all too evident during the closing portion of the latest edition of Smackdown. The babyfaces stood in the ring triumphant, having fought off the heel menace of the League Of Nations. Only, the villains didn't really pose much of a threat to Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose, Big Show and Chris Jericho. They wilted like some out-of-date flowers when the time was right, there was no foreboding danger. Everything felt a little safe and comfortable.
