10 Things We Learned From Charlotte Flair On Stone Cold’s Broken Skull Sessions Podcast
Charlotte Flair shoots on Becky Lynch, the Sasha Banks/Naomi walkout and WWE regrets.
Charlotte Flair isn't sure what's coming next.
The recently-married star knows one thing though: WWE better not try to turn her babyface. Charlotte told Steve Austin on the latest 'Broken Skull Sessions' that she much prefers being heel - Flair is, however, interested in putting "a new layer" on top of her current heel character, but she's unsure exactly what that'll look like.
Typically, Austin covered a lot of ground during his chat with Charlotte. Together, they explored everything from Flair's tours alongside Ric before actually becoming a pro wrestler herself, to which WWE stars inspired her the most when she first began training.
There was some never-before-seen footage from the FCW days, a ton of Becky Lynch chatter (including her side of the story on that controversial belt switch last year), and word on which WWE moments Charlotte regrets the most. Flair even chimed in on Sasha Banks and Naomi walking out on the company earlier this year.
'Stone Cold' went easy on his guest there, and Charlotte's answer was definitely diplomatic. If anything Flair was most critical when shining the spotlight on herself more than others.
Here's everything we learned.
10. Her First WWE Tour Experience
Charlotte went on two different company tours with Ric towards the end of his WWE run.
Austin's team rolled some footage on one such international jaunt back in 2005. During it, a timid-but-smiling daughter watches her significantly-more-famous father play up to the cameras. After watching, Steve wanted to know if that's when Flair caught the pro wrestling bug.
Answering honestly, Charlotte said she was actually kinda intimidated by the whole experience. Sitting in the locker rooms watching women like Torrie Wilson, Trish Stratus and Lita was an eye-opener, because the-then volleyball player couldn't believe how "beautiful and Diva-ish they were".
Charlotte really couldn't see herself following in their footsteps. Within six years, she'd change her tune slightly and start training in WWE developmental; even then, Flair couldn't picture herself strutting around the same way as blonde beauties like Trish or Torrie. Something big would have to change before she'd feel comfortable as a "WWE Diva".
