5. Owens Doesn’t Think He & AJ Styles "Hit It Out Of The Park"
The brash character Kevin Owens plays on television is nothing like the thoughtful man he is away from the cameras. That became evident when Owens admitted he didn't enjoy his feud with AJ Styles throughout the Summer of 2017. He takes some of the blame.
To KO, the rivalry felt like a missed opportunity and failed to live up to the billing.
Owens very words were, "we didn't hit it out of the park". AJ and KO wrestled over the United States Title at Backlash, Battleground and SummerSlam. It's only the latter match that Owens enjoyed, and he did so because of Shane McMahon's involvement. Oh boy, that statement is gonna' rile some hardcore fans, isn't it?
Kevin believed Shane added a fresh element to a stale format and helped kick the match into high gear as Special Referee. It also allowed Owens to move on from a failed feud into one he hoped would be more exciting and higher profile against McMahon.
