Receiving a three-page spread in the issue, Shane Helms was the reigning WCW Cruiserweight Champion when Vince McMahon bought over his employers, becoming his new boss in the process. Along with the title, Helms saw his contract transferred over to the WWF, where he would later find fame as The Hurricane. In a comparable fashion to how Billy Kidman was talked up by WCW Magazine throughout 1998 and 1999, Shane gets that same kind of treatment here. His love of pro wrestling is openly discussed, and the author of the piece - Jennifer Williams - has nothing but good things to say about the high-flying star. Clearly, WCW were keen to have Shane Helms dominate the Cruiserweight scene for the next few years, hopefully growing in stature as a bigger star, similar to Kidman or Eddie Guerrero. It's doubtful Helms was upset with how things turned out for him, but he was involved in stand out matches during the latter days of WCW, and had a bright future regardless.
