Despite a steady level of consistency within the matches, the booking of the title has been atrocious. From hot potato'ing the belt last year to completely destroying a banker WrestleMania moment and butchering a winning streak, the top prize has suffered reckless treatment since its introduction only one year ago.

Ultimately, the shoddy storytelling has damaged the performers, with Charlotte only a 'Queen' in nickname alone, and Bayley somehow not the biggest breakout superstar the company has had since John Cena.

The arrival of Alexa Bliss and Mickie James was a breath of fresh air, especially as it further delayed the excellent slow burn break-up between 'The Hugger' and her best friend Sasha Banks.

Despite the refreshed palette of talent now at the company's disposal (with Emma only just redebuting last week and Nia Jax improving with every performance), the show has a selection of dynamic new matches it can present until finally pulling the trigger on a heel turn from 'The Boss' later this year.

The company may want to save the major clash between the two for Brooklyn's Summerslam pay-per-view as a callback to their incredible NXT TakeOver match two years prior, and this vital infusion may be just the way to stretch the issue.
