10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About John Cena

3. He Was A Terrible Friend To Wheelchair Bound Zack Ryder

Every time I try to think about or write about the "Embrace the Hate" feud that John Cena had with Kane I cringe because of how awful it was. We knew what WWE was trying to do with the storyline, but they did a really poor job of it. Prior to Cena's huge dream match with The Rock at WrestleMania 28 in early 2012, they needed something for him to do. They brought Kane in as his opponent with Kane sporting the mask again and become a heel monster once again. For whatever reason, they involved Zack Ryder in the storyline too. He was becoming popular especially among online fans and they even pushed him to win the US Title too. Then it all fell apart. Ryder was trapped in a wheelchair due to all the attacks at the hands of Kane and he was even shoved off a ramp while in the wheelchair. It still looks like a very painful bump. Cena ended up having a couple of PPV matches with Kane, winning the second one (an Ambulance Match) and ending the feud, but it's not like he ever made things right with Ryder. He even made out with Eve, who Ryder had a crush on! Come on John! That's not cool! This angle was poorly written from the start. It didn't really benefit anybody involved and made Cena less likable as a character even though they were trying to make him more likable to all his haters. Oops.
