10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About Ronda Rousey
3. The Becky Lynch Match Was Almost Throwaway
If Rousey does leave WWE post-WrestleMania, then there's a very, very good chance Ronda Rousey vs. Becky Lynch one-on-one will never happen. On this past Monday's Raw, Charlotte Flair was announced as Becky's replacement for 'Mania 35, and that will likely result in a Triple Threat match come April. Hardly ideal, but then WWE love finding a spot for everyone on the WrestleMania card.
They love a good excuse to present Raw vs. SmackDown too.
Think back to Survivor Series 2018. Last November, Rousey vs. Lynch was set in stone before Nia Jax blasted 'The Man' in the chops and ended her hopes of working the match. Before injuries stopped her from doing it, Becky was about to face Ronda in yet another brand warfare exhibition.
That, much like the procession of matches Brock Lesnar has had against popular workhorses, would've been that. No lasting impact, no real purpose, just a one-off spectacle that existed solely to pad out a dying pay-per-view concept.
