Nobody expected it, and it marked another example of 'Taker refreshing his character, and keeping himself relevant. The main event of Judgement Day placed The Rock against Triple H, in a 60-minute Iron Man Match for the WWF Title. Adding spice to proceedings, Shawn Michaels was announced as the Special Guest Referee, upping the stakes, and adding an element of doubt over whether or not he was capable of calling the match right down the middle, due to his longtime friend Triple H being involved. Initial plans called for the match to be low-scoring, similar to the Bret Hart vs. HBK bout at Wrestlemania XII, but both The Rock and HHH vetoed such schemes, arguing that the lack of meaningful pinfalls would hurt the match quality. In the opinion of most fans, this Iron Man match is considered one of the best around, proving that both competitors were 100% accurate in their thinking. By giving fans more pinfalls and disqualifications, the overall drama of the match was only heightened, making it even more chaotic when Kid Rock's 'American Bad-Ass' hit and The Undertaker rode his motorcycle down to the ring.
