It still feels strange referring to Sting as a WWE star, but there we go. As two of the top performers in TNA it is no surprise that Sting and AJ Styles battled on a number of occasions, main eventing a whole host of pay-per-views for the TNA World Heavyweight Championship in the process. The two first crossed paths in any meaningful fashion on opposite side of the Main Event Mafia/TNA Frontline wars. Styles was the head of the Frontline opposed Sting (then World Champ), Kurt Angle, Booker T, Kevin Nash and Scott Steiner. The Mafia dominated almost every aspect of the feud unfortunately, but Styles and Sting weren't done when it ended. It was Styles who ended Sting's undefeated streak at Bound for Glory in 2009, in a match that was voted TNA's Match of the Year by fans. It is unlikely that the two will face off against each other in WWE however, as Sting's latest injury setback seems certain to be the last one for The Icon.
