The cast of the first season of NXT (long before it became the developmental smash hit it is now) made quite the splash upon attacking John Cena in June, 2010. In amongst smaller names like David Otunga, Skip Sheffield and Heath Slater, there was Daniel Bryan and Wade Barrett. Unquestionably, Barrett was positioned as the leader of the new group known as The Nexus. From there, things should have been rosy for the Englishman. As the year progressed, Barrett was involved in feuds against the likes of Cena and Randy Orton. At Hell In A Cell that October, Wade even defeated Cena, forcing the babyface to join Nexus. The storyline had been ruined long before that, Cena had battered Nexus - including Barrett - at SummerSlam. This was a poor move, the faction should have won. Barrett could have then went on to belittle Cena, and the angle of him being forced to join forces with the bad guys would have played out more naturally. By the time that happened, the hero had already vanquished the villains, so there was little for fans to invest in.
