Once CM Punk was installed into the Nexus hierarchy, there was little purpose for Wade Barrett in the group. The faction splintered into two separate entities, before Barrett eventually formed The Corre. Alongside Heath Slater, Justin Gabriel and Ezekiel Jackson, the stable failed to really get over as anything other than a cheap imitation of the NXT crew. This was supposed to be a show of faith from WWE management in Barrett's abilities as an on screen leader and promo man. Instead of helping him reassert any dominance as a heel, The Corre made Wade look like he was in charge of the modern-day J.O.B Squad. It didn't help that the name wasn't a great choice. WWE clearly spelled 'Core' as 'Corre' for merchandising purposes, but it was an awkward moniker. The Corre would only last around 6 months before being disbanded for the purpose of a feud between Barrett and Jackson. Again, fans didn't ever really care about the stable. There was no real reason given as to why they should, it felt like a poor follow up for Wade Barrett's career following the Nexus. WWE needed to rebuild him after that, they failed.
