10 Times WWE Missed Out On Making Sheamus A Superstar

7. Daniel Bryan Could've "Retired" Sheamus In 2010

The stipulation on Daniel Bryan's United States Championship match versus Sheamus on March 14, 2010 was that if Sheamus lost versus Bryan, that he'd retire. If Sheamus would've lost that match, not only would we not have seen the infamous dark WrestleMania match that was considered a nadir point for both Bryan and Sheamus, but it could've refreshed Sheamus' character in a major way. Imagine if in the Supplemental Draft, a "secret pick" was made for the last selection, and that it was announced that a "returning superstar" would be filling that spot. Sheamus as the returning star who'd attack Kofi Kingston makes a lot more sense than Sheamus with the championship attacking someone. It's the small decisions that have the longest reaching effects. In maybe Bryan getting onto the main card at WrestleMania in 2010, maybe his eventual rise by WrestleMania 30 would have occurred earlier. It's unfortunate the we'll never know what could have been.
