10 Times WWE Totally Trolled You
10. Emmalina's Non-Debut
Our first piece of evidence supporting Vince McMahon’s status as a master troll is also the most recent. Aussie wrestler Emma was removed from WWE television after suffering a severe back injury in May 2016, and a lengthy hiatus ensued. She underwent surgery shortly afterwards, and on October 3rd, 2016, the first of her return vignettes aired.
Emma was being repackaged as “Emmalina,” and her makeover was seemingly underway. The videos gave little indication as to what her new character may be, but they focused almost entirely on her looks, and featured her in a series of glamorous photographs. The repackage soon became one of the most protracted re-debuts in WWE history, however, and after the company failed to deliver on her promised re-emergence on December 12th, fans were left wondering if the whole thing was a rib.
The vignettes continued, however, but there was no sign of Emmalina into the New Year. Dave Meltzer stated that the situation was a “running joke and there’s no spot ready for her,” but Emmalina finally arrived on February 13th, 2017. Instead of pushing her new character, however, Emmalina revealed that she was going back to her old role.
It was later revealed that WWE had scrapped the repackaging after Emma failed to impress in rehearsals, but whether intentional or not, WWE still trolled their fans for over four months.
