The UFC pulled out all the stops with this one.

After Nate Diaz made a winning return to the Octagon at UFC 241, he quickly decided that he wanted to fight a real 'gangster' next and called out Jorge Masvidal for a bout in the future.

Doubling down on two of the most feared fighters in the company at that point, Dana White announced that the main event of UFC 244 would decide who was the outright 'Baddest Motherf*cker' in the UFC and even unveiled a celebratory silver belt for the occasion.

Hell, Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson was even roped in to award the title to the eventual winner. The company weren't holding back and promised a memorable battle of the badasses.

Only, when we actually got to the fight itself, fans around the world were robbed of an epic conclusion when the cage-side doctor called the fight off after the third round due to a cut over Diaz' right eye. Masvidal was then awarded the victory due to TKO via doctor stoppage.

Just like that, one of the most promising fights in years quickly became one of the most anti-climactic in the company's history.

Embarrassingly this 'BMF' title fight definitely did not go to plan and the company have been reluctant to book another one ever since.
