One mistake made during the saga between Rusev and Lana was that it didn't last long enough. It felt like no time at all before Lana was ignoring her frosty Russian characteristics of old and kissing the face off of Dolph Ziggler. There really should have been more build to it all, and Rusev looks relatively aimless with Summer Rae by his side. It seems unlikely to happen, but Rusev could win the services of Lana back in some sort of stipulation match against Ziggler. When the Bulgarian brute returns from injury, he should be directly going after Lana, not as a love interest, but out of spite. There's mileage in that story, this Russian beauty being held against her will by Rusev. Together, Lana and Rusev looked strong. Split, there's not a whole load of places WWE can go with the characters as they are, they revolved around one another too much. Summer Rae isn't a good fit for Rusev, and Lana is far from ideal for Dolph Ziggler. Besides, there's a story in Ziggler chasing Rusev to free Lana from his proverbial chains.
