10 Ways WWE Will Be Different In 10 Years

2. Closer Relationships With Their Biggest Rivals

WWE doesn’t really have direct competition, as they are far and away the #1 wrestling company worldwide. However, there are still plenty of successful promotions they have to contend with. New Japan Pro Wrestling is the obvious example, sitting at a distant number two, and in North America, CMLL and AAA dominate Mexican wrestling, while Ring of Honor and other American indies flood the US market.

WWE regularly plunder these promotions for talent (especially New Japan and ROH), but they’re not too keen to have close working relationships with them. However, you can see them start to loosen up that policy, working with promotions such as Evolve, ICW, and Progress in order to find bodies for Triple H’s pet projects, with ICW content rumored to be heading over to the WWE Network soon. In the next decade, I would expect similar relationships to blossom with New Japan, Ring of Honor, and CMLL.

That’s not to say I expect Wrestle Kingdom to be on the Network, as New Japan has their own streaming service, but could we see more interpromotional angles and shows? Maybe have talent exchanges similar to what ROH, New Japan, and CMLL do with each other right now?

With Triple H trying to expand worldwide influence, I don’t see why not.
