10 WCW Stars That Would Have Saved The Invasion

By Jamie Kennedy /

8. Lex Luger

Like many on this list, Lex Luger was content to sit at home and collect on his contract with AOL/Time Warner. Speaking about the situation since, Luger has said that there weren't really any talks between he and the WWF at the time. That's a shame, because he would have been another big ex-WWF name who could have made a splash. By 2001, Luger didn't seem as interested as he had previously been in pro wrestling. Backstage at WCW, he had reportedly become difficult to deal with. Listen to Lex talk now, and he's the first one to tell people that he had an inflated sense of self worth, and quite the ego. That's something that could have fit into the angle. Fans desperately wanted to believe in an 'Us vs. Them' scenario, and reality could have played into that somewhat. Vince McMahon's whole spiel should have been something along the lines of not letting these arrogant WCW stars poison his promotion. There were ready-made stories staring creative in the face.
