10. Hulk Hogan Vs Andre The Giant

In 1987, Hulk Hogan met Andre The Giant, in the Pontiac Silverdome in front of over 93,000 fans, in a clash between wrestling€™s past and wrestling€™s future. Hulk Hogan was in the 3rd year of his 4-year odyssey with the WWF Championship, and that€™s about as accurate as the numbers relating to this contest got. The WWF turned up the revisionist history to 1000, as they claimed Andre The Giant had been undefeated for the last 15 years, he had never been slammed, and most importantly he had never wrestled Hulk Hogan before. Since Hogan and Andre were €œfriends€ over the previous few years, this was easy for WWE to establish in the minds of fans. However, this was not true at all. Not only had they wrestled before, Hogan slammed Andre with ease. They met in 1980, at the Showdown at Shea in the semi-main event. Andre The Giant was a much fitter man then, as well as different looking. Instead of his classic one strap black singlet, he was in a pair of blue trunks and sported a massive Afro. But by far the most incredible thing about this contest was Andre was the face, and Hogan was the heel.Additionally, Hulk Hogan was a long way from being the guy he would later become. Andre defeated Hogan with a body splash after about 8 minutes. This match is bizarrely similar to the Backlash 2003 meeting between Brock Lesnar and John Cena. A beloved giant of a man, that took on a charismatic heel that was rough around the edges in his fledging career.
