Is WrestleMania IX the worst in history? Most would agree with that statement, and watching the show back it's hard to disagree. When the only thing that can vaguely be called acceptable is a story involving two evil clowns, you know you have a problem. The sourest taste left over from this most tangy of pies was the way it all ended. Yokozuna defeated Bret Hart for the WWF Championship after Mr. Fuji threw salt in the eyes of the Hitman. Yoko winning the belt wasn't necessarily a bad decision, as he was clearly getting the monster heel push and Bret was better suited to chasing the title. What happened after the match still angers to this day. Valiant noble hero Hulk Hogan came out to check on Bret after the match (despite no real medical expertise in eye injuries), before Fuji challenged the fresh hero to a match right there, right then. Hogan obviously accepted, and twenty-two seconds later we had a new WWF Champion. To compound the stupidity, the departing Hogan dropped the belt right back to Yoko at the next pay-per-view, King of the Ring 1993. Go figure.
