10 Wrestlers That Could Be Kurt Angle's Mystery Feud
The Unusual Suspects.
It seems a lifetime since WWE ran a 'mysterious assailant' storyline that actually piqued fan interest, but they've suddenly stumbled upon two at once.
Whilst Enzo Amore took his second consecutive kicking as Big Cass suspiciously found himself elsewhere, Kurt Angle was victimised mentally rather than physically after reading an anonymous text sent to Corey Graves slamming his stewardship of the flagship show.
Relatively new in the role, Angle has done little on television to raise the ire of his employees thus far. Attempting to brave the dreaded babyface authority figure role in the vein of former boss Mick Foley and longtime SmackDown General Manager Teddy Long, Kurt has called things down the middle and settled conflicts with tag matches like every self-respecting babyface in a suit should.
Traditionally within WWE's insane TV hierarchy, such accord never lasts, with interjection from management above or talent below upsetting the applecart before wrestlers can actually be allowed to enjoy where they work.
Odds are, Kurt can expect more grief from the enigmatic offender until that person reveals their identity and/or motives for the abuse. But just who could it be? And could they cope with Angle's physical retribution?
10. Stephanie McMahon
The (painfully) obvious choice for the role of verbally eviscerating her on-screen subordinate, Stephanie McMahon has been off television since she satisfyingly plummeted through a table at the climax of her husband's WrestleMania 33 battle with Seth Rollins.
The Monday Night Raw Commissioner made life needlessly miserable for her hand-picked General Manager Mick Foley following his supposedly disappointing displays post-Draft, and was presumably unaware that her father Vince would take the decision to hire Kurt Angle as his replacement completely out of her hands during her convalescence.
One could question exactly why she'd have a problem with Angle considering how little he's actually been involved since taking the job, but that seems a plot line too far in today's disposable product.
In September 2000, she made the storyline decision to reluctantly favour her on-screen husband Triple H in his war with the Olympic Gold Medalist whilst the two were locked in battle over her affections. It was the most engaging storyline in the most critically acclaimed and commercially successful year in company history, but ended in crushing disappointment when the company bottled the obvious payoff of having her leave 'The Game' for the sly Angle.
Just under two decades later, such crushing inevitability occurs on an almost weekly basis. And if she doesn't land the killer blow on Angle herself, her husband may just step in...
