10 Wrestlers Who Could Talk You Into ANY Storyline

6. Mick Foley

Mick Foley, more so than anyone on this list, has a masterful way with words. Away from wrestling he is a best-selling author, and his famous promos have his creative fingerprints all over their very core. Foley combined goofiness and intensity, in a way we hadn’t seen before and will never see again. At his most popular, he struck a balance between lovable goofball and boiler room dwelling psychopath.

Two of his promos stand out. The first, his ECW “Cane Dewey” entry which saw Foley take an anti-hardcore stance after a fan held up a sign with that phrase in reference to Foley’s young son. The promo showed much of the tortured nuance of the Mankind gimmick. Then, as Mankind, he delivered the second standout. On the9 June 1997 edition of Raw, he attacked Jim Ross during an intense interview claiming the commentator misled fans into thinking he was having the time of his life, when he was actually in pain

A testament to Mick Foley’s status as one of wrestling’s greatest talkers is his ability to stay relevant to the industry after his in-ring retirement too. His 2000 to 2001 commissioner role is still fondly remembered.
