10 Wrestlers WWE Should Build To Dethrone Roman Reigns

10. Seth Rollins

Seth Rollins is incredible in the ring, great on the mic, has great character work, and has built a record of being dependable. He truly is one of the best professional wrestlers in the world, but that’s not all.

Rollins already has a long-standing history with Roman Reigns as members of one of the greatest stables in wrestling history, The Shield. This already creates a general intrigue for the audience. Add to this history the possibility of developing a story centred on Rollins' pursuit of Roman and the World Title. If WWE were smart (which many times they're not), this feud would greatly help to develop Rollins as a character. The audience could see Rollins start with a simple goal of winning the World Title. As Rollins continues to fail, however, his attitude can begin to reasonably shift from that of an erratic heel who just wants the belt, to a fully-fledged obsession with beating Roman. This obsession could drive Rollins through much of the year and build a long term story worth telling.

At first Rollins' obsessive behavior leads him to attempt to cause chaos in Reigns' life. As Rollins continues to fail, however, we can start to see shifts in his mental state. As we see these internal shifts in Rollins we begin to also see a shift in the ring as well. His role as a chaotic heel doing whatever it takes to win shifts into that of a workhorse ready to die in the ring. Eventually, through much suffering, humiliation, and defeat, Rollins makes his return to babyface glory and wins the Royal Rumble from the number one position. Thus, setting up a final showdown between Roman and Rollins on the grandest stage of them all.
