8. Jim Duggan Always Felt WWF Firing Was Inevitable

Nowadays, it's not uncommon for pro wrestling fans to speculate over exactly who will next be released by WWE. Each year, the promotion cuts loose several members of the roster, usually developmental talents who aren't deemed to have a bright future. In the words of one former stalwart, this was always something that was discussed in the backstage area, even amongst more established names. 'Hacksaw' Jim Duggan said he enjoyed his time in the WWF between 1987-1993 during a recent shoot interview. Since then, he has made many fleeting appearances for WWE, usually as a nostalgia act. During his first run however, Duggan was considered an upper mid card star, and even won the first ever Royal Rumble match in 1988. He was an important part of the roster at one point. Being established didn't stop the man from constantly peering over his shoulder. Even when he was performing at WrestleMania and winning Royal Rumble bouts, Duggan felt it was only a matter of time before he would be released. It's fascinating to imagine that Jim thought this way, because it must have affected his ability to enjoy his tenure. However, it shows that wrestlers were aware nothing was certain, even during the glory days of the WWF.
