10 Wrestling Facts We Didn't Know Last Week
10. Paul Heyman Has Always Thought Samoa Joe Is Main Event Level
If there's one thing Paul Heyman can spot, it's excellent wrestling talent. As the brains behind the original Extreme Championship Wrestling for years, Heyman helped various performers accentuate their strengths whilst also hiding any glaring weaknesses. The WWE manager knows what characteristics make up a top talent in the industry.
Recently, Heyman granted an interview to ESPN. Quizzed about everything from Brock Lesnar's return to UFC and his own career, to the upcoming WWE Draft, Heyman was very candid with his thoughts. When asked who he felt could easily make the step up from NXT to the main roster, Paul instantly answered with Finn Balor and Samoa Joe.
In particular, he stated his belief that Joe has been at a main event level for many years, even before making it to WWE. That's interesting, because the promotion put Joe on NXT programming immediately, and there's been no guarantee of a run on shows like Raw and SmackDown.
For Paul Heyman, the name Samoa Joe is clearly synonymous with greatness. If he was running things, it seems Joe would play a major role in his planning.
